| Budapest is a city located at the crossroads of Europe, with the Alps to the west and the Great Plain to the east and this is reflected in the weather. Budapest has a transitional, changeable climate being caught between two weather systems: Eastern European Continental and Western European Oceanic. Winters are generally short, dry and cold, January offering the lowest temperatures, with an average of 2.1 degrees centigrade, and the occasional spectacular drop in temperature to as low as -25., while in summer temperatures can reach over 35 degrees during the month of August. At this time of year you can expect up to 10 hours a day of sunshine and crystal-clear blue skies, so follow the crowds to the banks of the Danube and make the most of it! Spring sees regular showers, whilst autumn is generally mild, misty and rainy, the ideal time for a relaxing afternoon at a thermal spa. Not so well known is that Budapest experiences over 2000 hours of sunshine throughout the year, making sightseeing and cultural visits an absolute delight in any season. |
